God has gifted us with many avenues to understanding Him and our purpose on earth. Who created me? For what purpose? What really matters? What is God like? and What does God want with me? Join us on a thrilling and intriguing journey as we watch and read testimonies of people from all over the globe who have gone through near-death experiences and have come back to share with us their encounters with the God of the Bible.

 

We will solidify our faith in God's power, compassion, friendship and guidance in our lives. And in turn, we can share this hope of eternal life to friends and family who may not know of His amazing love for all people across all nations!

Dallas Willard once had this great response when asked if he could describe Jesus in one word.  He sat back, took a dep breath, and responded, “Relaxed.” 

​

As we know through Scripture, for Jesus to come across as relaxed doesn’t mean He didn’t grieve or get angry or feel the weight of the world on His shoulders.  But it is clear that He was never in a hurry to anywhere other than where He was, fully present with whomever was right in front of Him, trusting and obeying His Father’s way.  Does the relaxed describe you?  It can.  And for those in Christ, it will!

Walking with the One Who Is Not Worried about a Thing

Here's the class description for BEMA.

​

"BEMA" (or bimah) is a Hebrew word that refers to the elevated platform in the center of 1st century synagogues where they read the Torah. In the early church, the community of God's people didn't face a stage with an audience, but rather centered around the Word of God. 

​

In our group, we will listen to the conversations in the BEMA podcast and learn a new approach (eastern vs. western) to the Scriptures. Through this class, we will hear about how the Israelites would have understood the Torah and what experiences and teachings would be in the forefront of their minds as Scriptures unfolded.  This eastern approach gives us permission to pause, observe, and find "problems" in the Bible. This podcast and our discussions will not just be engaging the mind, but will also tug at your heartstrings as we experience God in new ways.  We will be jumping to the New Testament in the book of Matthew.

This is a continuation class from previous semesters.  If you'll be joining us for the first time or have never listened to the BEMA podcast before, it is recommended to listen to the first 5 episodes of Season 1 to understand the style of discussion we will participate in.  

Hidden Heart Spotters is a “come to the table” type class.   Meaning all you need to do is show up.  We work together to create a safe space for journaling and discussion;  for sharing and exploring the way God is working in our lives.  We gather around a table in all our different beautiful and broken pieces to find healing.

We call ourselves “hidden heart spotters” because we (1) practice  spotting and sharing Gods many hidden messages of healing and encouragement, and (2) we spot each other (as weight lifters do) in the heavy work of courageous and vulnerable spiritual development.  Holding each other up as we dive into our struggles to bring darkness to light.  

While we are committed to flexibility as the Holy Spirit guides discussion, this session we plan to start a hike through the tangled forest of loving and parenting those with mental health struggles and/or neurodivergence.  Exploring difficult but important topics we plan to find our way with prayer, scripture, poetry, art, wisdom from mental health experts, and stories of personal experience. 

Did you ever stop to think that maybe your dreams are God’s dreams? God divinely designed our minds to dream with Him. Discovering God’s purpose for your life is hidden in the dreams of your heart. It isn’t something you have to find, it’s something you discover. It’s been inside of you from the very beginning! You were born a dreamer.

I Dream Big is an interactive class, where we will create a vision board and personalized images to plan our God-driven goals, because goals are dreams with a date. Writing and visualizing our dreams stirs us to action, as we become what we behold. Habakkuk 2:2 says to "write the vision and make it plain ..., that he may run who reads it." This semester, we will ignite Habakkuk 2:2 into action as we dream big together.
